Christopher & Carrie Kallal
Chris is the Executive Director of SBYCamp. An Illinois native, he has been in camping ministry since 2001. In that time, he has served at 4 different camps! Chris loves camp and loves seeing Jesus transform lives at Camp! He started attending camps in 1991 right after 3rd grade and hasn’t stopped since! In fact, he loves camp so much that he spends a lot of his free time teaching others about camp! He teaches camping classes at different conferences around the world and written 21 books about the various aspects of camp life. As well, Chris co-hosts a podcast, Scamp Life - The Programming Side, where he talks all things Camp Programming. One of his favorite things to do is visit other camps and “steal” ideas from them to bring back to his camp.
Carrie is the Guest Services Director at SBYCamp. She has been in Camping Ministry longer than Chris! She started working as a CIT at Camp Manitoumi in 2000, then moved onto Girl’s Leader, Dining Room Hostess, Counselor, Craft Person, Camp Store Director, Canteen Manager, Bookkeeper, Kitchen Director, Assistant to the Director, and now Guest Services Director (She has literally done it all!!) In her free time, she enjoys teaching in children’s ministries, creating children’s ministries resources, and crafting.
Chris & Carrie have a total of 4 children; Rowan, Emmalina, Autumn, and Aurora, as well as two dogs, a cat, and and a pet skunk, Stinkerbell!
Hannah Eberts
Hannah has been a vital part of Southeastern Baptist Youth Camp since 2014, bringing her passion for ministry, leadership, and camping to every aspect of her role as Assistant Director. She absolutely loves the summer sunshine and thrives in the vibrant, Christ-centered environment of camp life.
Hannah’s joy extends beyond camp, as she leads worship at her church, explores new trails, and spends cozy moments reading or crocheting. You’ll often find her sipping a hot cup of Raspberry White Chocolate coffee and working on cabin assignments.
She’s also the proud mom of her daughter, Evelyn—affectionately nicknamed "Herbert" by the camp staff. Whether planning programs or soaking up the warmer weather, Hannah’s heart for camp ministry shines in everything she does!
Ralph McVay
Ralph McVay joined the SBYCamp team this past summer as Maintenance Director after many years of faithful service as a camp board trustee and volunteer. His long history with SBYCamp gives him a deep understanding of the mission, the property, and the heart behind everything that happens here. Ralph brings a servant’s mindset to his work, ensuring that buildings, grounds, and systems are well cared for so ministry can happen without distraction. In addition to his role at camp, Ralph continues to serve as the Pastor of Tampico Baptist Church, faithfully shepherding his congregation while supporting the camp ministry he believes in so deeply. His dedication, humility, and steady leadership are a tremendous blessing to the SBYCamp community.
